WeWriWa Sunday – Fox Trap

In which we meet elly, she’s a fox…

Currently 99¢ but not for long.

This week is the launch of the first book in my new SCIFI- Urban Fantasy series: The Guardians of Ghael.

I wrote the draft for this book while on retreat in Quinault with about twenty or more speculative fiction authors, some of whom have one Nebulas and Hugos. I like to call that weekend my growth spurt as I took my next steps in my writing career.

The book is 99¢ during pre-order.

Wish me luck!

Lies. Shifters. And space vampires.

Elly Morgan’s a PI on a mission to capture a murderer. But when she encounters him in an alley on her home moon, she discovers he’s more dangerous than she expected—too much even for a foxkin like her to handle.

Detective Blaine Cornell’s tracking the same murderous quarry—and though teaming up with the beautiful ex-cop-turned-PI makes sense, the secrets he must keep from her put them both in a life-and death-struggle to save her kindred.

If they can’t learn to trust each other, they could both lose everything. And set a blood-sucking fiend loose on the innocent inhabitants of the moons of Ghael.

Your snippet of loveliness! Elly and Blaine’s first meeting:

His father said the Assembly’d picked the best and they were right, Elinor was blazing good at her job. She found him. All he’d been doing was staking out the bar scene from afar. She did him one better.

“That was good detective work, finding him. Too bad you left the constabulary to go it alone as a PI.” He baited her, watching lie upon lie manifest. Hating himself for allowing it, and waiting.

She didn’t reply. But she glared at him with a probing look used by some of the best interrogators in the business. She was pulling him apart like a puzzle.

Blaine kept his face composed, he felt a trickle of sweat bead at his brow.

They sat in silence for a few moments before he looked back up and made his next move.
